Om (AUM) for Yoga And Meditation (Mp3)

Interestingly, these one-syllable mantras combine quite easily.
In fact, if one chants the “OM” or “AUM” as a three-syllable sound as suggested elsewhere—“AH OH MM”—you have one combination which contains at least two of these sounds. When pronounced in the way, the “OM” or “AUM” should be sounded on one breath.
Project the 3 syllables as three separate sounds so that the “AH” resonates the heart center, the “OH” resonates the throat center and the “MM” resonates the third eye and crown.

NOISES for meditation and relaxation.

PINK NOISE :
Pink noise is white noise, but with reduced higher frequencies. It resembles the sounds of steady rainfall or wind and is often considered to be more soothing than white noise.

For those who like Pink Noise to meditate, I created a relaxing ocean surf wave (1 hour, MP3, 320 kbps, 135MB).
Download >>> HERE <<< (right click, Save Link As...)

BROWN NOISE :
Brown noise lowers the higher frequencies even more. It's a bit “rougher” than pink noise and resembles the roar of a river current or strong wind. Common benefits associated with brown noise are relaxation, improved focus, and of course, sleep improvement.

Chanting the AUM

When you feel depressed, chant AUM many times and feel its powerful tonic, because it is the infinite sound of creation (God) that can be heard in the tiny place in the sacred space of your heart.
The chanting of AUM with A=432 Hz drives away all worldly thoughts and removes distraction.
Those who chant AUM regularly, absorb more life-force energy and develop a stronger, sweeter voice.
Those who meditate daily on the AUM, develop more lustrous eyes, and feel new vigor and strength.

Meditation on AUM

The AUM (OM) symbol is a sacred syllable representing Brahman, the impersonal Absolute, omnipotent, omnipresent, and the source of all manifest existence. The difference in spelling ["OM" or "AUM"] is merely a matter of transliteration.

In Buddhism, the AUM symbolizes the ultimate reality and the entire universe, through its sound and form:

A stands for Creation
U stands for Preservation
M stands for Destruction or dissolution

The three portions of AUM relate to the states of waking, dream and deep sleep.

The three letters also indicates three planes of existence: heaven, earth, and netherworld.

The AUM sound at A=432 Hz can be considered the sound of one's own heart and nervous system. Meditators and mystics hear it daily, like the sound made by an electrical transformer or a swarm of bees. When the world too strongly dominates our mind, this sound may, for a time, not be heard. But it returns as the mind becomes perfectly quiescent, silent, still. Listen for this sound in your quietest moments and you will learn to recognize it as a daily encounter with the Divine, that lives within all creatures and all existence.

The A=432 Hz AUM vibrates on the principals of the golden mean, Φ or PHI, and unifies the properties of light, time, space, matter, gravity and magnetism with biology, the DNA code and consciousness. The Natural Tuning to A=432 Hz has profound effects on your consciousness as well as the cellular level of your body.

By tuning musical instruments and using the pitch of A=432 hertz instead of the music industry's 440 hertz, your atoms and DNA start to resonate in harmony with the φ spiral of nature. The best way to experience the A=432 Hz difference is by listening. Its wavelength is 7.23 cm.

The A=440 Hz pitch triggers also certain parts of the left hemisphere of our brain, the place where "the ego and its never enough resides". Listening to music at this pitch makes us never feel fully satisfied with any recorded piece of music that we own. In order to make sure that we will always buy more recorded music, Record Labels record music at the A=440 Hz pitch. The Ultimate Client Retention Tool.

The A=432 Hz pitch is centered in the heart. Some people who are not able to distinguish the 8 hertz difference with the A=440 HZ, claim they can feel the A=432 Hz to be warmer, due to the longer wavelength. Within the universal Harmonic Concept, the natural and sacred breath of tone of A=432 Hz is used for Tuning Consciousness.

Using the AUM mantra, you can vibrate and meditate along the wavelength of natural tuning to achieve more balance. Meditation on the A-U-M leads the mind gradually to higher levels of vibration in which all sublime truths are gradually revealed to you. Try the following exercise. See if you like it.

Exercise:

Close your eyes, and imagine a beam of brilliant white light shining down on you.
Breathe this white light in through the mouth and chant "AUM" on the outbreath throught the nose.
Try to match the A=432 Hz pitch you are hearing on this webpage.
Feel the sensation of the vibrations resonating in your sinus and nasal cavities.
Picture the light flooding out with your AUM breath and traveling to the space between your eyes.
Then imagine this white light flowing out from that space and revealing your favorite landscape.
Stay there for as long as you like.
Repeat this excercise when you wake up and before you go to sleep.

Alternate between the AUM breaths "In the mouth, out the nose" and "In the nose, out the mouth". As you get more vivid in your inner vision, try to make simple objects appear and take shape from the white light cascading out of the space between your eyes.

When you feel comfortable doing this, picture the life you want to unfold around you and shape it from this white light.

According to Dr. Horowitz, a Harvard-trained award-winning investigator, there is a special sound of love. "This signal is among the six core creative frequencies of the universe. It exists at the heart of the electromagnetic sound and light spectrums. It is the heart of the rainbow (green), spinning like a vortex of energy in the middle of your chest—the heart chakra. The “key to the house of David” (Isaiah 22:22)?

Since math doesn't lie, the geometry of physical reality universally reflects these tones; these findings have been independently derived, peer reviewed, and empirically validated," Dr. Horowitz says. "The third note, frequency 528 Hz, relates to the note MI on the scale and derives from the phrase "MI-ra gestorum" (Latin for "miracle").

Planetary Healing Sounds
by Jonathan Goldman

The following article contains information about three short and powerful mantras—sacred sounds that may effectively be used individually or in groups for transformation: “OM”, “AH” and “HU”. These mantras are particularly useful sounds for projecting specific intentions. Please note that it does not seem to matter what pitch, frequency or keynote the mantra is chanted with regard to the effect of the mantra. The intention of the chanter, however, does seem to affect the power of the mantra and can amplify the energy even more. For this reason, you may find the article on “Intention” of interest.

Mantras

Mantras are “words of power”. The word “mantra” is Sanskrit and may be translated as the “thoughts that liberate from samsara (the world of illusions)”. Mantras are listened to or recited by a practitioner for many different purposes; as a means of achieving different states of consciousness, to create resonance with specific attributes of divine energy, and to manifest different qualities, from resonating the chakras to embodying compassion.

Mantras are found in all the different sacred traditions including Judaism and Christianity—the “Hail Mary” or “Amen” in the Christian Tradition or the “Shema” or “Shalom” in the Hebrew tradition are the equivalent of mantras, as is any repetition of prayer, chant or sacred sound. The prayers, chants and sacred sounds of the Native American tradition or the Islamic tradition may also be considered mantras. In fact, there is virtually no spiritual tradition, including indigenous peoples, in which the recitation of sacred sound as mantra does not occur.

While there are many mantras that are quite long and complex, many people are often looking for short mantras that may be easily sounded when people meet together in a group. Within the context of mantra, the most famous of these mantras— the mantra that is considered the “first of all mantras” is the OM. For this reason, the “Om” is an excellent mantra to work with. In this writing, we will examine several such short mantras which may be used effectively.

On “OM”

Of all the sacred sounds on this planet, the one that is most often chanted is the “OM”. Undoubtedly, at any given moment, there is someone, somewhere chanting this sacred mantra. The “OM ” is considered one of the oldest vocal sounds in existence—many speculate that it has been chanted for untold thousands of years. It is considered to be the original, primordial sound—the mantra of creation.

OM is a mantra from the Hindu tradition. OM is a Sanskrit word, which is said to be the original primordial creative sound from which the universe and all of creation first manifested. While pronounced “OM”, certain Sanskrit scholars state that it is written as “AUM”. Many consider the two words to be interchangeable because of this. OM is said to be the sound that contains all sounds–it is the totality of all other sounds. Swami Sivananda Radha says, “The cosmic sound AUM, or its condensed form, OM, is the origin of all other sound. OM is everything. It is the name of God.”

OM is a multi-dimensional sound, and as such, may be understood a number of different ways. One understanding is that OM (or it’s written form “AUM”) represents attributes of the major trinity of Hindu gods; Brahman, Vishnu and Shiva. The sounding of the “A” represents the energy of Brahman, the creator and the creational process. The middle portion of the sound, the “U” represents the energy of Vishnu, the preserver and relates to the maintenance and preservation of what has been created. The final “M” represents the energy of Shiva, the transformer and relates to the vital transformational energy to shift and change that which has been created and preserved.

Another understanding of the OM (or “AUM”) is that the “A” represents the physical plane, the “U” the “mental and astral planes” and the “M, all that is beyond the reach of the intellect. “AUM” or OM is the initial syllable, which begins almost all mantras. Thus OM represents the Infinite, the One Mind, the all embracing consciousness—that which is the very essence of existence.

In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the OM (“AUM”) represents different aspects of the trinity of the Body, Speech and Mind of the Buddha, or an enlightened being. The “A” represents the Body, the “U” represents Speech, and the “M” represents the Mind. Sounding the AUM in this manner puts one in resonance with these qualities of consciousness.

The OM is a Bija (or “seed”) mantra and may be utilized to resonate the third eye. However, it may also be chanted as a 3 syllable word “AUM” (and pronounced as “AH – OH – MMM”) to resonate the heart, the throat and the crown chakras. In fact, the OM can, through our intent, become a multi-purpose mantra with capabilities of resonating and aligning all the chakras—of cleansing imbalanced energies and purifying self. Sung with sincerity and devotion, vocalization of the OM can put the chanter in touch with the source of all creation, providing a bridge between the spiritual and physical dimensions and opening the way for inspirational contact with higher realms and beings.

Many people ask if there is indeed a correct pronunciation for the OM. Is it “OM” or “AUM” or something else? In reality, there does not seem to be a correct pronunciation. Depending upon the country, language and dialect, the OM can be pronounced “AUM, UM, UNG, ANG, ONG” and so on. Yet, the resonance and effects of this mantra seem to be very similar despite varied differences in pronunciation. Much depends upon the intention of the person creating the sound—where do they wish the “OM” to resonate—which chakra and for what purpose. .

OM as a sound symbolizes the supreme source. To many, the sound of OM is synonymous with the energy of peace. OM may be found as the root of many sacred words of different languages including our western “Amen” and the Hebrew “Shalom”, which has many meanings including “peace”. The OM initiates peace and tranquility when it is listened to, and particularly when it is chanted.

On “AH”

One of the most powerful mantras on this planet is the sound “AH”. This is an extremely powerful sound–particularly useful for generating compassion. I know you will agree that compassion is truly a key to transformation of consciousness on this planet.

The “AH” sound is a sacred seed syllable—a sacred mantras in many Eastern traditions including Tibetan Buddhism. It is also a vowel sound—a divinely inspired sound that is considered sacred in many different traditions including Hebrew Kabbalah.

The “AH” sound is found in most of the God and Goddess names on the planet (Tara, Buddha, Krishna, Yah, Yeheshua, Saraswati, Wakantanka, Quan Yin, etc.), as well as many of the sacred words (Amen, Alleluia, Aum). As a seed syllable, the “AH” is universal and may be utilized differently in different traditions, depending upon its purpose. In the Tibetan tradition, the “AH” is as a sacred mantra. In Western mystical traditions, it is a vowel sound

Most mystical traditions worldwide that work is the vowels sounds in relationship to the chakras find that the “AH” sound the sound of the heart chakra. This chakra, which is located in the center of the chest is the energy center associated with love and compassion. Indeed, when many people think about the energy of love, they express it as an “AH” sound. Many spiritual masters believe that the activation of this chakra is most helpful for achieving higher consciousness and enlightenment. Most agree that the energy of love and the heart is the primary, essential energy of the universe.

Many people believe that the “AH” sound is the primary sound that is created when we are born—the sound being birthed on the inhalation of the first breath. The “AH” sound is also the last sound we make, riding on the energy of our final exhalation. In Tibetan Buddhism, there is a co-meditation technique which uses the “AH” sound. Chanting “AH” together (or even simply by just breathing together) allows people to attune and resonate with each other. It seems that the heart beat, respiration and brain waves of two people will entrain with each other through breathing or sounding “AH” together. This use of the “AH” sound may be particularly effective for those involved in hospice work. In this situation, the “AH” sound may once again be used as a sound of the heart chakra.

I often recommend the “AH” as a sound for people who want to work with short mantras in groups. The reason for this is that as has been discussed, “AH” is an extremely transformative sound. Yet, most people know of it only as a vowel sound, and thus it defies association with any spiritual denomination or description as a mantra. While other sounds such as “OM” might be rejected by certain audiences because they are recognized as Eastern mantras or coming from another spiritual traditions, the sounding of an “AH” is acceptable by everyone regardless of their background, culture or religion.

Here is an easy exercise with regard to working with the “AH” sound to generate the energy of compassion. All you do is have people sound an “AH” while they are generating the energy of compassion. Start first with yourself, then with someone you love, then with someone you have neutral energy with and finally with someone you have difficulty with. It is this last that provides the greatest opportunity for spiritual growth, since it’s easy to send love to someone you love and real hard to do it to someone you don’t.

On “HU”

Just as many traditions believe that the “OM” is the original creative sound, there are traditions that believe that this energy may be attributed to another sound—the “HU”. In the Shabd Yoga traditions, including Master Path and Eckankar and in the mystical Islamic path of Sufi, the “HU” is considered to be the highest vibratory mantra that can be sounded. Chanting the “HU” is said to lead one to transcendence—to God realization and enlightenment.

“HU” is believed to be the universal name of God, which is present in every existing language. The “HU” sound has been described as many things from the buzzing of bees to the rushing of wind to the flute of God. It is said to be present in the words we speak, in the sounds of animals; that it is the wind in the trees, the rushing of waters, the roaring of water falls, the beat of the sea against a beach—that it is everywhere, in every plane.

Like the “AH” and the “OM”, the “HU” may be perceived of as a seed syllable. Depending upon its pronunciation, it may also be perceived of as a vowel sound—the “U”. The “HU” creates extraordinary energy for balance and clearing. Many believe it activates both the heart and the crown chakras. When sounded together in a large group, it is extremely powerful and transformative.

Different spiritual paths seem to have very different ways of pronouncing the “HU”, the sacred name of God. Certain spiritual paths from the Shabd Yoga traditions will chant it as one would the word “you”. Other spiritual variants of Shabd Yoga, will chant it as the word “who” which is said to be good for clearing the crown chakra. In the Sufi Tradition, there is even a way of chanting the “HU”, doing it with lips barely touching and being the primary vibrator, so that this “HU” sound almost sounds like a motorboat or a buzzing insect. The Sufis perceive this “HU” is good for resonance of the throat chakra. Different groups may insist that their pronunciation of “HU” is the only correct pronunciation. However, regardless of the way it is chanted, continued, elongated sounding of “HU”, particularly with specific intention and visualization, will lead the reciter into an elevated state of consciousness.

Conclusion

“OM”, “AH” and “HU” are just a few of the one syllable mantras from different traditions—there are many others. These three have been described because of their recognition and power.

This way of sounding the “OM” is extremely effective in a group for bringing the energy of the people together.

The Tibetan Buddhist Chant of “OM AH HUM” also contains these sounds. The “OM AH HUM”, the Mantra of Blessing frequently precedes the recitation of other mantras. In this setting, when utilized as part of this mantra, the “AH” embodies the principle of creative sound and pure speech and is used to resonate the throat chakra (with the “OM” resonating the crown chakra and the “HUM” resonating the heart chakra).

In conclusion, these three mantras of “OM”, “AH” and “HUM” are particularly effective for working with a group in order to create and then project sacred sound for use to assist in planetary healing sound—using sound to assist the creation of peace and harmony on the earth. As always, it should be stated that the intent of the chanter is of great importance. In the article on “INTENTION” is much information on understanding this and in particular, the formula Vocalization + Visualization = Manifestation.
By themselves, these mantras have their own extraordinary divine resonance. But through skillful means, one can project intention upon these sounds, amplifying and making even more extraordinary the great healing gifts they can bring.

How to Use Sound to Heal Yourself
By Roger Gabriel (Raghavanand)

The first impulse to emerge from the silence of the absolute, or the field of Pure Potentiality, was the sound “OM” or more correctly “AUM,” according to the Vedas (ancient Hindu scriptures).

Even the Bible and modern science agree that the initial spark of creation came from sound or vibration. The Gospel, according to John says, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God … and the Word was made flesh.”

If you substitute “Word” with “Sound,” it becomes, “In the beginning was the Sound and the Sound was God … and the Sound became manifest.”

In modern science, they talk about the Big Bang Theory, again sound.

It’s this original, primordial sound that diversified: “The One became many.”Each separate vibration evolved to reflect the whole in infinite disguises, giving rise to the world in which we live. Universes within universes, each vibrating at their own frequency, interacted with every other frequency to produce the variety of life. Every organ, tissue, and cell has its vibration which, when in harmony, creates the most wonderful symphony imaginable, the human body.

If disharmony arises or a break in the unfolding of the vibration occurs, there develops a loss of wholeness leading to discomfort and disease.

Sound has been used since the beginning of history to create certain moods in the listener. Different sounds affect people in different ways. Fingernails scraping a blackboard elicit a very different reaction than a violin (unless it’s being played by a 6 year-old). Shamanic drumming can create a trance-like state, marching bands are used to fire-up an army or sports team, and a mother’s lullaby soothes a troubled child. The different ragas of Indian classical music are attuned to different times of the day or different seasons to harmonize the listener with the rhythms of nature.

With the right sounds, you can align yourself with the vibrations that foster health, happiness, and unity.

Nada Yoga

In the Vedic tradition, sound vibration is known as Nada. In the practice of Nada Yoga, sound is used not only to restore physical and mental well-being but also as a path to spiritual awakening. Nada Yoga divides sound into external sounds, Ahata andinternal sounds, Anahata.

External sounds are perceived through the ears and Nada Yoga can be as simple as listening to non-vocal music while gently focusing on the individual notes. You can listen to the different notes within the music of nature—birds singing, rain falling, or the wind through the trees. Or you can chant sacred mantras such as OM or AHUM (I am), with the focus on each individual letter. The aim is to allow awareness to move inwards.

Internal sounds are perceived through the Anahata (heart) chakra. Each human body has its own unique sound or vibration, which is sacred to that individual. By regulating the breath, with the attention turned inwards, and closing the ears with the fingers, you can begin to listen in on your own inner sound. Re-aligning with this sound serves to balance your energetic body and ultimately re-connect you with your divine presence. With practice, you can also learn to hear the vibration of the universe, a soft distant OM, sometimes referred to as the Cosmic Hum.

Through Nada Yoga it is said that you can remove all impurities in the physiology. It starts with awakening the inner fire through the use of Bhramari Pranayama (humming bee breath).

Humming Bee Breath

Sit comfortably with your spine erect and close your eyes.
Close your ears with either your index or middle fingers.
Lightly press your lips together and slightly open your teeth.
Bring the inner gaze into the Ajna (sixth) chakra.
    Breathe in through your nose.
As you exhale, make a smooth, even, humming sound, like the sound of a bumblebee.
Continue for 3 to 5 minutes feeling the vibration throughout the body.

Levels of Sound

The Vedas also recognize four stages of the manifestation of sound.

The grossest form of sound, Vaikhari is normal audible sound, including speech.
More subtle is Madhyama, a whispered sound with no audible effect
As you move within, you experience Pashyanti. These are mental sounds such as songs in the head or a dream. It is also the visualization of sound such as silently listening to your thoughts or the silent repetition of a mantra.
Finally you reach Para or transcendental sound. This is pre-manifest sound in its subtlest state as light or pure silence. This is the root or potential of all sounds, sometimes referred to as the “unstruck sound.”

Try This

Begin by repeating the mantra “OM,” or any other mantra of your choosing, out loud.
    Continue repeating it more softly
    Decrease volume to a whisper
Now continue repeating it silently, without moving your lips or tongue
Allow the sound to take your awareness into silence, the field of infinite possibilities
If your mind wanders, come back to the silent repetition of “OM.”
Continue for 10 to 15 minutes

Chanting

Chanting has been used in all cultures for thousands of years to uplift the spirit and activate certain archetypal energies within the self.

Choose a simple repetitive chant, one that you can learn easily so you’re not always trying to remember it. It can be from any tradition but it should be one you feel comfortable with.

Chant OM

    Take a deep breath in.
As you exhale, chant the sound OM.
When you run out of breath, breathe in and repeat the chant.
Continue at your own pace for 2 to 3 minutes.

Chant A-U-M

    Take a deep breath in
As you exhale, in the same breath chant Aaa-Uuu-Mmm
Feel the “Aaa” sound in your belly, “Uuu” in your chest area, and “Mmm” in your head
Breathe in again and continue at your own pace for 2-3 minutes

When you chant, you raise the vibration of the whole physiology. Whenever you chant, chant fully. Open your heart, open your throat, chant with your whole body; lose yourself to the chant. Ultimately you are chanting to our own soul—the divinity within you. Rumi said, “I want to sing like the birds, not caring who listens or what they think.” This is how you should chant.

A Bengali Poem

With beaming face chant the sweet name of God

Till in your heart the nectar overflows.

Drink of it ceaselessly and share it with all!

If ever your heart runs dry, parched by the flames

Of worldly desire, chant the sweet name of God,

And heavenly love will moisten your arid soul.

Toning

As everything in the universe is sound or vibration, a disharmony in one of those sounds or a break in the unfolding of the sequence of sounds, leads to discomfort, disease, and a loss of wholeness. For example, if one musician in an orchestra is playing off key, there is a loss of harmony in the whole piece of music. You can correct that by having a second musician stand next to the first one and play the correct notes. Just by hearing the correct notes, the first musician will automatically begin playing correctly.

Similarly, if there is a disharmony in your physiology, and you know the correct vibration for that area, you can begin to correct the imbalance by chanting or toning that sound. For example, if you have a problem with your eyes, and you know the sound relating to the eyes, you can activate the healing process for that area by chanting that sound (silently or aloud) and directing the vibration into the area of the eyes.

Bells, Gongs, and Bowls

Bells, gongs, or bowls that have a clear ring when struck can be used for balancing and clearing energy. Unless a metal bell, gong, or bowl has been tuned to a specific frequency, they can only be used for general purposes.

To clear the body’s energetic field, strike the instrument and circle it clockwise around the body, move it up and down the limbs, move up upwards along the front of the spine.

To clear a room or home, play the instrument while standing in the center of the space or move around the edges of the space in a clockwise direction, striking/ringing the instrument.

Crystal bowls are manufactured to specific vibrations, usually to the vibration of one of the chakras. They can be used for general balancing and clearing as described above or played in front of the specific chakra, with your attention on that chakra.

Mantras

There are mantras for just about anything you can imagine. There are mantras to restore health, bring wealth, change the weather, remove problems, cure snake bites, welcome a new baby, and create peaceful coexistence, just to mention a few.

The Chopra Center offers classes in Primordial Sound Meditation, where students receive a mantra that relates to the sound or vibration of the universe at the time of their birth. Silently repeating this sound draws the awareness inwards to transcend the external world and merge with the non-local value of existence that was there at the moment of birth. This reconnects you with your true self, an infinite, immortal field of pure consciousness. You can learn your personal mantra from any Chopra-certified Primordial Sound Meditation instructor.

In the Vedic tradition of India, mantras are often associated with a particular deity and by chanting the mantra you activate the archetypal energies associated with that deity. It’s important to remember that the deities are really a projection of your true self. By chanting these mantras, you are simply activating the energies already lying dormant within you.

Perhaps the most well known of the deity mantras is … OM NAMAH SHIVAYA

Lord Shiva is considered to be the first yogi and this mantra activates the pure silence, pure awareness, and pure potentiality within you.

There are too many to list them all but here two other important mantras.

Maha Mrtyunjaya Mantra

This great Shiva mantra is to prevent untimely death, physical ill health, fear, sorrow, and depression.

It helps to create universal peace, gives energy and zeal, removes ignorance, and destroys anger, selfishness, and vengeful thoughts.

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe

Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam

Urvarukamiva Bandhanat

Mrtyor Mukshiya Mamrtat

Gayatri Mantra

It is said that all sickness is really home sickness. For those of you on a spiritual journey, your cure is to return home to you true self. After eons of wandering, you remember that you are and always have been an enlightened being. The Gayatri mantra is the one for enlightenment.

Om Bhur Bhuvah Suvaha

Tat Savitur Varenyam

Bargo Devasya Dhimahi

Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

There are many recordings of these mantras, which can help you learn them.

Play, chant, listen, meditate, be open to the great silence, and enjoy the blessings of the magnificent, eternal symphony that surrounds you.
